Underbelly Records return this January with a three track EP from Dutch producer Wouter De Moor, entitled ‘DX Love’ and backed with a remix from Kris Wadsworth.

Wouter De Moor’s career has been steadily evolving since 2009 with releases on Bla Bla, Remote Area, Trapez and Paco Osuna’s Mindshake. De Moor’s association with these labels has led to a busy touring schedule, taking him across the globe to South Korea, China, Spain, London and the infamous Cocoon Club in Frankfurt.

Underbelly Records launched in 2011 and the label has already released cuts from the likes of Maya Jane Coles, Alex Arnout, Klartraum, and Matt Tolfrey & Sam Russo.

WOUTER DE MOOR - DX LOVE (KRIS WADSWORTH ZOMBIE SUFER REMIX)

‘DX Love (Kris Wadsworth’s Zombie Surfer Remix)’ opens the EP here and in true Wadsworth fashion embraces a raw, dubbed out Detroit vibe. Punchy drilling beats and underlying twisted melodies drive the track alongside a penetrating arpeggiated bass-line; the result is a moody, peak-time slow bloomer with a touch of class as expected from the Detroit master.

WOUTER DE MOOR - DX LOVE (ORIGINAL)

Next up is ‘DX Love (Original Mix), embracing a deep, dub-techno feel formed from tantalising frequencies and heavily delayed emotive chords. Weighty drums and a gritty rolling bass-line create the fundamental movement of the track while the melodic elements brilliantly meander around the rock-solid groove.

WOUTER DE MOOR - CLUTTER (ORIGINAL)

To close the release De Moor offers up ‘Clutter’, a groove led percussive track with a progressive feel. Warbling synth lines and sporadic vocal chops creep in and out of the structure alongside an infectious, hooky bass, while subtle filter and chorus modulation is applied intermittently to create an ever-evolving dynamic.

KLARTRAUM - “PLAYFULNESS EP” (Underbelly Records)
Inc. Remixes by: Kris Wadsworth (Get Physical)
Tim Underbelly (Underbelly Records)
RELEASE DATE: 2012-06-11
URKLD004: Digital
URKLV004: Vinyl

Klartraum – Playfulness (Original)

Inspired by the wise words: ”The moment you start seeing life as non-serious, a playfulness, all the burden on your heart disappears.” Osho Nansen: The Point of Departure Chapter 8. Playfulness, sees the talented German duo in fine form, turning in a slice of skipping house that welds organic percussion to a heavily electronic groove that slowly unfurls into a warm, synth-led number that owes as much to Chicago as it does to European micro-house. Combining fat melodic sub bass grooves, alongside intelligent layers and synch patterns, creating the perfect dance floor journey for the music purist.

Klartraum – Playfulness (Kris Wadsworth’s Space Face Remix)
The inimitable Kris Wadsworth strips away the intricate trademark Klartraum detail and pans out to the overall feel with his ʻSpace Faceʼ interpretation. Looped keys sit back in the mix whilst floating chords ride the kick-focused rhythm before opening into a mesmerising blanket of melody. Audio taste buds are effortlessly charmed whilst driving the dance floor, with this original underground masterpiece. Raw yet elegant, this is undoubtedly some of the US producer’s finest work.

Klartraum – Playfulness (Tim Underbelly Soft Porn Remix)

After 10 years of djing, label boss, Tim Underbelly, makes his début remix on the release. He provides a subtle, undulating version, which uses samples, field recordings and a nagging arpeggio to create a trippy, understated and impeccably balanced atmosphere throughout. A unique combination of driving positive frequencies creates a tantalising, sexy dance floor smasher, feel good factor 10!

Listen on Soundcloud: Original Mix // Alex Arnout Remix //  Matt Tolfrey & Sam Russo Remix

BHOO's original of ?Elastik Phone' is a twitchy, rhythmic number that owes as much to Wiggle-esque tech-house as it does to the likes of Perlon. Dense, detailed and heavy on the bass, it's an out and out slice of electronic funk.

Dogmatik boss Alex Arnout returns to the label to turn in a fine, warm and mature slice of modern deep house that is dominated by an irresistible bassline.

Leftroom's Matt Tolfrey & Sam Russo deliver the last of the remixes of ?Elastik Phone'and true to their form, turn in a robust interpretation. Punchy, rounded drums underpin filtered chords and bubbling keys, whilst synth strings ebb and flow, emphasising the stuttering groove.

JOE JOYCE aka JOBE - “AMYGDALA EP” (Underbelly Records)
Inc. Remixes by: NADJA LIND and MAYA JANE COLES
RELEASE DATE: 2011-10-03

Freud had ever seen twenty-first-century neuroscientists actually scanning and mapping the brain and its neural circuitry, he'd have shouted "Eureka!" for he would have seen the amygdala, an almond-shaped cluster in the brain where emotions are generated and stored.

"When aroused, the amygdala floods the entire body with neurochemical signals that leave behind a vivid and indelible trace of fear, anger, grief, happiness, surprise, or shame." – Daniel Goleman Emotional Intelligence. It was the words of Daniel Goleman that inspired Joe Joyce, whilst reading goleman’s book, Emotional Intelligence, on a flight to Ibiza. Goleman's introduction to the Amygdala explained so many things.
